Hero. It’s a word we often hear. On the news, in advertisements, in everyday speech.
“Be a hero and bring back a loaf of bread.”
“Teachers are hero’s too.”
“He’s the team hero after making that pass.”
Now I’m not saying all these people aren’t worthy of praise, but imagine you’re in the dark. Its cold. Red lights flash. Screens blink dire warnings. The sound of a new buzzer jangles every nerve.
And everything you ever loved may no longer be.
I wish them the absolute best, the hundreds of workers at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station. They deserve no less.
And they deserve that word.
Well said, Nigel. Thank you for your post. I’m glad you’ve joined the blogosphere, and I look forward to reading more of your work. All the best.
Hey, thanks Piper. I’ve been so busy figuring out inserting pictures in posts and all that stuff I hadn’t noticed anyone had commented! I think I’ve Tifinized my blog enough now … all I need is a dozen articles to start …
Cheers!
They absolutely deserve that word. People like the workers at Fukushima Dai-ichi give me hope that humanity is not all lost.
Very nice post Nigel, thank you 🙂
