Traveling around the US, there is one thing you can’t help miss. The dominant car colors are silver, white and black. Red occasionally appears, but usually only on a sports car. But lately I’ve begun to think the time’s they are a-changin’ (sorry Bob). I don’t know who started the trend first, Mini
or Ford
but there seem to be more colored cars on the road these days. Reds and blues are definitely more popular, but green seems to have a way to go.
I love color on cars. Anything to get away from the norm for a while. Overall, I’m going to vote for Ford with the Focus for doing the most to bring color back onto US roads. What about you?
Cheers!
PS In the interests of full disclosure, I own a white car and a white minivan, and my daughter might just leave home if we get another white car. We won’t 😉
Do MiniCoopers have engines, or do your feet reach through the floor to pedal them? In fact, are they really cars?
It has to be said that I’ve had ones with enough rust you could probably put your feet through the floor! They’re a hell of a lot of fun to drive hard though 🙂
Cheers!
David, how dare you speak such nonsense? I love my Mini, and, like my days in a minivan, have beaten more than one sports car in the race out of the green-light gate… without pedalling! So there!
I’ve had a few of the original style Minis and they were all excellent to drive. I used to race around the brilliant roads of Wales and loved them all. Even the one from 1959 with an 850cc engine. Now I occasionally get to drive my mother-in-laws and its just as much fun!
Well, as usual I’m bucking the trend! My last car was a lovely deep green, but this time around I went with champagne (which is just very light tan). I would love to own a red car, but my husband is convinced that they get stopped for speeding more often. *sigh*
Hi Julie.
I had light tan once. It was the same color as road dirt, so it never looked any better when I washed it! Good luck with the red quest, it’s my favorite color 😉
Cheers!
I get so bored with all the bland colors we’ve been stuck with. Right now, unfortunately, we’re perpetrators. We have two black vehicles. Sadly, when we went to purchase our cars we tried to get blue…but there was a long wait as it had to be gotten from other states and would’ve costed more to transport. Fingers are crossed that our next vehicle purchase will be something of color…like the blue car I had before the black SUV.
Hi Kitt
Its like a self fulfilling prophecy, they don’t stock colored cars, so we don’t buy them. I’m just a guilty – I have two white cars!
Cheers 🙂
Currently, I drive a grey car. Before that, white, or, as Ford described it, White Chocolate. Ah, but before that, navy blue.
More interesting, at least to me, I’ve gone from a minivan to a Mini Cooper. What do you make of that, Nigel?
Minivan to mini cooper? That’s exactly what my wife wants to do! As soon as our bank has an accounting error in our favor, I’m sure we’ll have one!
Cheers!
It’s my ambition to someday own a coloured car. As I mentioned (http://blog.dianehenders.com/2012/07/04/cheapskate/), my cars have been boring white for most of my adult life. I’m positively drooling for one of those lovely bright coppery metallics. Or red. Or yellow. Or blue or green or ANYTHING but white, tan, or “silver” (which is just a less-boring way to say “grey”). Though statistics show that red cars get more tickets than any other colour of car, and brown cars get fewest tickets of all, I think I’ll take my chances with the brighter colour…
LOL. I once owned a car that a friend described as “hearing aid beige.” Got rid of it soon after 🙂
Good luck with speeding tickets!
Cheers
